Primary Engineer® is delighted to announce Baxi Heating as a new funding partner for the Primary Engineer Structures and Mechanisms with Basic Electrics Project for schools in the Preston area.
The projects which will be supported by Baxi Heating engineering professionals in the classroom will enable primary pupils to have an inspiring introduction to engineering and develop skills such as visualising, problem finding and creative problem solving, testing and evaluation, improving and adapting along with teamwork and communication skills.
Baxi Heating is at the forefront of engineering solutions to address the reliance of UK homes on natural gas and help reduce our carbon footprint through a range of approaches such as decarbonisation of gas grids and converting to evolving hydrogen technology. Important and significant changes are happening in the sector and will require innovative engineering professionals to lead the way. Baxi Heating is unlocking the potential of Preston pupils by partnering with Primary Engineer to enable teachers to deliver the whole-class projects so all pupils regardless of gender, ethnicity or background have the same opportunity to be inspired by engineering and get involved in the projects.
Chris Rochester, UK Director at Primary Engineer, said: “This is an exciting time for Preston teachers and pupils as they will have the new Baxi engineering and manufacturing centre on their doorstep and through the partnership with Primary Engineer, they’ll be able to connect with the engineering professionals from Baxi to have a real-world context to their learning. Creative, solutions focused, ingenious people will be needed in this area of engineering to design and implement the technologies we will need now and in the future. Our Partnership with Baxi will allow pupils to understand more about engineering and to see it as a potential future for them.”
Anastasia Bingham-Kirkland, Operations Data Systems Analyst at Baxi Heating said: “Baxi Heating has been part of the Preston community for over 150 years and we’re very excited to be supporting local schools. We believe that engineering offers so many diverse and exciting opportunities, leading to rewarding and fulfilling careers. Our engineers are really looking forward to engaging with schools to promote STEM and inspiring the next generation of engineers.”
